The Family Gallery

The Family Gallery is a safe space to explore art as a family. Showing work from our Collections on a particular theme, it is an introduction to using the Gallery and provides a relaxed space for you to get creative together. Practical activities are provided, but you can always use you own imagination too.


 The Family Gallery is……

  • Free
  •  A relaxed, welcoming and creative environment for children and adults together
  • A great introduction to contemporary art
  • Open 6 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 5pm and Sunday 12noon – 4pm, you can come back time and time again
  • A place to sit on sofas and read books together
  • A place to draw together

The National Gallery Masterpieces Tour 2018


We are privileged to be the first venue of 2018 to exhibit Hans Holbein’s A Lady with a Squirrel and a Starling, which will be the centrepiece in our Family Gallery in the New Year. This masterpiece will be shown alongside complementary works from the Permanent Collect encompassing key collection themes Portraits and Animals and Birds.
