The majority of exhibitions at The New Art Gallery Walsall are initiated by the Curatorial Team; however the Gallery is happy to accept exhibition proposals from artists at any time.
As we receive such a high number of enquiries from artists, we are unable to accommodate requests for artists to meet with the Programming Team directly.
Before submitting a proposal we suggest artists familiarise themselves with the Gallery’s programme and its spaces. The exhibitions programme is planned at least two years in advance, with three slots per year on our Floor 3 and approximately four slots per year on our Floor 4. Programming decisions are made in accordance with our partnership and funding agreements with Walsall Council and Arts Council England. Please see Exhibitions for an overview of our contemporary and collections exhibitions programme.
Proposals can be submitted by email or post and should contain the following information:
- Name and contact details
- A brief written introduction to your practice
- Biography – including details of recent exhibitions or publications
- A brief description of what you propose for The New Art Gallery Walsall
- A selection of images / documentation of your work
Please do not to send any original art works or images by post as The New Art Gallery Walsall cannot be responsible for them.
Please send your proposal to either:
Please ensure the total size of any attachments does not exceed 5MB
By post to: Programming Team, The New Art Gallery Walsall, Gallery Square Walsall, WS2 8LG
Please note that the Gallery does not acknowledge the receipt of proposals and will only contact artists, via email or letter, after the proposal has been considered and a decision agreed upon. The Programming Team meets twice a year to consider exhibition proposals.
If you wish to have your proposal returned to you after a decision has been made, please provide a clearly marked stamped addressed envelope. Although we will make every effort to return everything to you, The New Art Gallery Walsall cannot take any responsibility for any loss or damage caused to your application.
