The New Art Gallery Walsall welcomes applications for unpaid work experience and voluntary placements from people interested in working in the creative industries, particularly the museum and gallery profession. The number of placements offered throughout the year is dependent on the nature of the programme and opportunities arising from this.
Placements for GCSE and A’Level pupils are facilitated through our Education Department where schools / colleges have an established partnership with the Gallery. Only a few placements are available each year.
If you would like to apply for work experience or a voluntary work placement at The New Art Gallery Walsall, please fill in the application form. Only applications made on this form will be considered. Please do not attach any additional information, other than letters of confirmation from schools.
The following skills are expected from all applicants:

- Positive attitude
- Ability to accept direction and management
- Hands on approach
- IT literate
We receive many requests for work experience and voluntary placements, therefore applications should be submitted at least three months in advance of the dates being requested. A decision should be expected within three months of submitting an application. Where specific dates have been requested by an applicant due to a mandatory school or university placement, we will endeavour to respond with a decision as soon as possible. All applicants will receive a reply via email or letter once a decision has been made.
