Boyana Aleksova

Boyana Aleksova works between Kyustendil, Bulgaria and Birmingham, UK. Her interdisciplinary art practice highlights environmental issues through socially engaged eco-activism, experimental painting, writing, and collaborative work. Recent projects include the removal of 150 bags of rubbish from a river and the community staging of this waste as a performative action.

Boyana will use her residency to explore concepts of rewilding, degrowth and detachment from nature. In gifting tomato seeds from her Grandmother’s garden and other small actions, the artist hopes to reconnect others with the origins of their food and stimulate positive relationships with nature.
