In Conversation / closing event
Saturday 12 July, 2pm prompt
For the past four months, artist Sarah Taylor Silverwood has been researching letters, photographs and documents relating to the extraordinary lives of Lady Kathleen Epstein (née Garman) and Sally Ryan, the two creators and donors of The Garman Ryan Collection at The New Art Gallery Walsall.
Kathleen and Sally, a new body of drawings based on text and images abstracted from the archive combined with altered pages from vintage magazines, is on display now in the Long Gallery. These drawings offer a unique interpretation of the stories represented in the archive and explore wider post-war ideas around womanhood and femininity.
Join Sarah Taylor Silverwood for an informal conversation about her exhibition and for a chance to look through her sketchbooks over summer refreshments in the studio.
Book your free place at The New Art Gallery Walsall reception or by calling 01922 654400.
Exhibition continues until 20 July
Floor 1
21 June – 20 July
Through an exhibition of drawings and a temporary window work Sarah will bring together and celebrate the extraordinary lives of Kathleen Garman and Sally Ryan.
