Inspiring Women’s Talents!

The New Art Gallery Walsall and Mosaic present a unique and creative, educational and inspirational, free for all event celebrating the artistic and cultural achievements of Muslim women from Walsall and beyond.


 

Traditional Islamic manuscript illumination, animation, manga and mosaic workshops delivered by leading British artists such as Norma Vondee, Ayesha Gamiet and Asia Alfasi.

 

Poetry and spoken word performances featuring Pearls of Islam, Tapestry of Talent and others….

 

Inspirational women speakers such as Councillor Salma Yaqoob, Najma Hafeez, Shabana Mahmood MP, Valerie Vaz MP, Shaista Gohir, Ashia Ahmed, Arshia Riaz, Neelam Fida, Lubna Ashraf and others…..

 

Birmingham ‘Big Sisters’ exhibition  

 

Photography displays of Asia and the Middle East by photojournalist Shaista Chishty

 

Storytelling sessions by Alia Alzougbi and Khayaal Theatre Company.

 

Art market by local and regional women artists

 

Mendhi hand patterns 

 

Performances by local schools and women’s groups

 

Islamic Relief will be raising funds for people afflicted by the recent floods in Pakistan.

 

All performances and workshops are free, everyone is welcome!

 

In partnership with Mosaic, Muslim Women’s Network UK, Sister 2 Sister, Serco, Walsall Children Services,  Islamic Relief, Hear My Voice, Surestart and We Are Walsall.
