The New Art Gallery Walsall in partnership with NHS Walsall, the Creative Development Team and WARMA, are taking part in this year’s ‘Simple Acts Campaign’ , which has been running nationally for the past few years and aims to create a positive way refugees and British born people see each other.
Following last year’s successful event and to celebrate this great occasion, the gallery will be hosting a collection of tasty snacks from around the world created by people who live in Walsall. The free tasting sessions will take place on Saturday 19 June, from 1pm to 3pm. The snacks will be available for our visitors that day to taste and to meet the people who made them. Recipe cards will also be provided.
Some examples of the foods on offer are, Kurdish shiftas, stuffed vine leaves with herbs and spices from Sudan, Albanian burek, spicy lamb Hilib Huuris from Somalia, a special salad from Iran and Maputi, as well as roasted maize and peanuts from Zimbabwe, Africa.
