Understanding Art
Perception

Thursday 24 March- The New Art Gallery Walsall

This four week course will explore perception in art across the varied collections and exhibitions of four regional galleries through looking, discussion and questioning.
At Wolverhampton Art Gallery, see behind the scenes in a stores tour and learn how artists’ drawings reveal what the human eye really sees. Consider how and why artists have used abstraction in different ways and how we as viewers may respond to colour, form and line at the Barber in week two.
Experience perception through the lens of both American photographer Janet Mendelsohn and Vietnamese film maker Dinh Q. Lê at Ikon in week three. In week four, discover new paintings by Laura Lancaster at New Art Gallery Walsall, questioning what we see and when we see it.

£20 / £16 concs (students, unwaged, 60+) For all sessions. Booking essential.
