The Artists’ Studio Programme is a curated programme, as such the majority of residencies are by invitation, however ‘open call-outs’ also form part of the programme. The Gallery is happy to receive residency proposals from artists at any time.
*Please note, at present, due to lack of capacity, we are unable to respond to artists proposals unless we are interested in pursuing a residency, project or exhibition with an artist.
As we receive such a high number of enquiries from artists, we are unable to accommodate requests for artists to meet with the Programming Team directly.
Before submitting a proposal, we suggest artists familiarise themselves with the Artists’ Studio programme. The programme focuses on artists, predominately though not exclusively, who are connected with the West Midlands region and who have already built up a growing record of practice. The residencies vary in length from two week mini-residencies to longer residencies of six months to a year, with around three to four residencies hosted each year. Residencies are intended to offer time, space and support for artists to create new work in a purpose built studio space positioned within the heart of the Gallery building. Resident artists are encouraged to respond to the Gallery and its environment, and to explore innovative ways of engaging with its diverse audiences. Please see Artists’ Studio for more information about the studio and our residency programme.
Please note; accommodation is not offered to artists in residence and the Artists’ Studio space is not available for hire.
