Sarah Byrne’s work references her experience of growing up in a mixed heritage family and involves a process of recalling and questioning events and narratives that have led to a separation in her two national identities.

The New Art Gallery presents the first solo exhibition by landscape painter Yasmin David (1939-2009). David was the niece of Kathleen Garman, who donated Walsall’s prestigious Garman Ryan Collection in the 1970s.

Following an open call-out, which received submissions from 220 artists across the region, in Spring 2021 the Gallery acquired 32 new works by 30 West Midlands’ based artists, with their individual responses to the significant events that shaped 2020.
