Karla Black

Join the Gallery’s Learning & Engagement Coordinator, Alex Jolly for a guided tour of this major exhibition of previously unseen sculptures by critically acclaimed Scottish artist, Karla Black.

Session 1: Primary Teachers – 10am-12pm

Session 2: Secondary/FE Teachers – 12.45-2.45pm

Discover paint-filled jewellery boxes and works that hang, hover, rise, assemble, scatter, curve and spread throughout the Floor 3 galleries.

Work with artist Kate Tilley to explore Karla’s distinctive palette of pastel and metallic colours and her unique use of paper, cotton wool, Vaseline, bath bombs, make-up, polythene, cellophane, powder paint, and gold leaf.

Take some time out from teaching to look, learn, extend your knowledge of contemporary art, develop your making skills, play, experiment, and create your own abstract sculptures to inspire your students!

Karla Black runs until 29 October, so we hope you will bring along your students in the Autumn term. For more information on Karla Black can be found here.
