Introduction to the JOY project

The project aims to foster a sense of inclusivity and belonging at the Gallery for young people, who wish to explore the Gallery’s Collections in a joyful way, and come together to promote unity and positivity.

The project will be led by the young people, for young people, and will offer a unique opportunity to work with a curator to develop a project at the Gallery.

The Joy Project can provide:

• A voice for young people and their lived experiences
• Work experience and development opportunities
• An opportunity to build confidence, resilience and positive mental health
• A forum for discussion, debate and socialising
• A focus on mindfulness, positivity and finding joy in the everyday

Participation will be flexible to meet the needs of the young people, and sessions will take place roughly on a monthly basis over the course of the year.
