A Sense of Place

1 July – 26 November 2023. Community Gallery

Launch event: Saturday 1 July, 2-5pm. All welcome.

The A Sense of Place project was developed by Creative Health CIC, in conjunction with
partner venues across the West Midlands. It aimed, post-Covid, to encourage people to
continue building relationships with the nature on their doorstep, as well as to spend time
re-connecting with the collections and cultural institutions in their locality.

A range of workshops, with lead artists Juneau Projects, Ming de Nasty, Saranjit Birdi and
sophia moffa, have taken place across the West Midlands in venues around Birmingham,
Burton, Staffordshire, Wolverhampton, and here at The New Art Gallery Walsall.

Project participants have been inspired by local collections to produce artworks celebrating
the natural world and the places and spaces we love.

This exhibition features artworks produced in workshops across the West Midlands, with a
focus on nature, collections and wellbeing; artworks which provided inspiration to
participants from different collections; alongside documentation photography by Ming de
Nasty, and a project film produced by Junction 15.
