Kate Tilley
Kate grew up in London where her mum Patricia, instilled in her a love of sewing that was re-awoken during the lockdown of 2020 when she also learned to knit and crochet.
At the heart of Kate’s work sits a fascination with the conflict of the personal and the universal in women’s lived experiences.
Using culturally loaded materials and techniques – initially ceramics and now textiles and yarn – Kate’s pieces subvert notions of home, family, femininity and craft.
Alongside her art practice, Kate runs “Stitchety’, a venture which aims to ignite a love of stitching to a whole new audience via workshops in schools and community spaces.
