Laura Onions
Informed by feminist ways of learning and archival material, she takes these ideas beyond the studio, using printmaking as a tool for participation, dialogue and community-building. Her recent work has focused on local ecologies and exploring our interconnectedness with nature.
Laura will use her residency to explore the processes of contact, transference and pressure within her printmaking practice and how these physical actions might correspond to personal, social and environmental landscapes, including the burgeoning pressure of the climate emergency.
Laura Onions is based in Wolverhampton and the Black Country and is actively involved with arts, nature and culture networks in the West Midlands. Recent projects include Wild Walsall, Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust (2025 – 26), Start the Press! Ikon Gallery (2024), Constellations Cohort, Up Projects (2023-24)and ongoing roving screen printing project Gathering Press (2022-). She has been working on a long-term basis with arts organisation Multistory on their Neighbourhood Ecologies programme (2024 -) and with CoLab Dudley as part of the Bioregional Learning Network (2025-).
