Vivencias. Dialogues between the Brazilian artists from the 1960’s to 2002

Lygia Pape, Artur Barrio, Cildo Meireles, Ernesto Neto, Feranda Gomes, Ricardo Basbaum, Rivane Neuenschwander, Tatiane Grinberg and Jose Damasceno.

Vivencias set up conversations between a select number of Brazil’s most energetic and significant artists, working between the 1960’s and the present. From different generations and distinguished by varying aims and practices, they are linked by the power of their art to inhabit the imagination, often by shifting between the sensory and the conceptual. In investigating issues concerning the body, and the link between the visual and the other senses, and the relationship of the artist to the audience, the artists continue the dialogue instigated by the experiments of Lygia Clark, Helio Oiticica and their contemporaries in 1960’s Brazil.
