Pride&Privilege
Expressive painting workshop
Kathryn O’Connor is an instinctive, multi-arts artist, focusing on authenticity and visibility. They work in the moment, led by how they feel, creating work which is therefore authentically rich, diverse and engaging.
Kathy will be offering an insight into their incidental practice by leading some expressive self-healing art workshops for the public as part of the Pride&Privilege events programme, co-produced with our Collections Community Panel, of which Kathy is a member.
Kathy created a new painting and poem, Can You See Me?, in response to two artworks from our Collection; Out of the Dark by John Keane and Lake, Trees and Church by John Fullwood. These works, and Kathy’s responses, are currently on display in the Pride&Privilege temporary exhibition at The Class Act on Floor 2 of the Gallery.
During this 2-part workshop you will learn more about the class and identity project exploring our Collections, as well as about Kathy’s own artistic practices, and over two consecutive Saturday afternoons create your own expressive painting and piece of writing to accompany it.
Free, all welcome, no experience necessary, recommended for over 16s. Spaces limited, please book to reserve a place.
