Community Gallery

6 March – 12 July 2026

Billy Dosanjh’s artistic practice uncovers silenced histories of migration, displacement, and industrial exploitation and is rooted in his upbringing and the de-industrialised landscapes of the Black Country.

Reimagining Industrial Migratory Stories CIC received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant for an exciting heritage project, Paths You Walk, based in Walsall. Billy Dosanjh, Creative Director, has produced a series of cinematic moving-image works and heritage-based photographs reimagining local South Asian narratives with participants and organisations from the Walsall community.

This exhibition aspires to revitalise Walsall’s 1960s heritage through compelling filmic sequences and photographic images, depicting the struggles, hopes, and resilience of those who shaped the region. Billy and his team utilised a professional film production crew to work closely with residents of The Butts, Walsall, who have generously shared their stories and opened up their homes and businesses, as well as becoming the cast of characters within the works.

The exhibition features the debut of the ‘Paths You Walk’ film series, produced with a full cinematic crew in Walsall.

This project has been supported by a variety of local organisations including Caldmore Community Garden, Walsall Library Archive, Walsall College, The New Art Gallery Walsall, Walsall Council and More Than A Moment.
