Arts Award
The New Art Gallery Walsall is one of the cultural organisations working with Arts Connect and Trinity College to offer the ‘Discover from Home’ Arts Award.
The ‘Discover from Home’ Arts Award is a new digitally available course that can be completed from home. Devised by Arts Connect and Trinity College, London, The New Art Gallery Walsall is one of the cultural organisations that has been selected for the pilot roll-out. The course is available from Monday 15th June until Sunday 20th September 2020. The Gallery is now accepting bookings, with the first 50 places free of charge, thereafter a small fee will be incurred to cover the cost of the certificate. To enrol in the course please complete the Discover at Home Booking Form and email it to Education Assistant, Catherine James: Catherine.James@walsall.gov.uk who will liaise with you further. Please note, this is for anyone who has not already completed the entry level Discover award.
Arts Award is a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form – from fashion to digital art, pottery to poetry. Discover Arts Award is an introductory award, designed for ages 5 and above, but is open to children and young people aged up to 25.
To achieve an Arts Award Discover, children and young people collect evidence in an individual arts log of their experiences of:
- taking part in arts activities
- researching artists or craftspeople and their work
- sharing their arts discoveries
The New Art Gallery Walsall has worked with a range of artist-educators to create online workshops and resources that will support children to achieve their Discover Arts Award.
