Work Experience and Volunteering

The New Art Gallery Walsall welcomes applications for unpaid work experience and voluntary placements from people interested in working in the creative industries, particularly the museum and gallery profession. The number of placements offered throughout the year is dependent on the nature of the programme and opportunities arising from this.

Work experience for GCSE students, A Level Students and FE students

One, week – long placement is offered in July each year to a GCSE or A Level student, and is facilitated through our Learning and Engagement Department. This placement aims to give students a broad experience of the work of The New Art Gallery, allowing students to spend a little time in all departments. Please contact Alex Jolly, Learning and Engagement Coordinator for an application form- alex.jolly@walsall.gov.uk

Work experience placements for HE students- Undergraduates and Postgraduates

If you would like to apply for work experience or a voluntary work placement at The New Art Gallery Walsall please contact Alex Jolly, Learning and Engagement Coordinator to express your interest and to request an application form. Email alex.jolly@walsall.gov.uk

If you have an interest in working in a particular department please let us know in this initial email, along with any specific dates you hope to conduct a placement.

We receive many requests for work experience therefore applications should be submitted at least three months in advance of the dates being requested. We consider all requests on a case-by-case basis and will always try to accommodate students as our programme permits. A decision should be expected within one month of submitting an application. All applicants will receive a reply via email once a decision has been made.
