Belonging and Place Workshop led by Twenty Twenty Collection artist Sophia Moffa.
Free, to book call the Gallery on 01922 654400.
Contemporary artist Sophia Moffa is the founder of The Travellers’ Tree CIC which organises activities combining art, nature and the outdoors for asylum seekers in refugee hostels within Birmingham and the West Midlands. This workshop offers the opportunity to reflect and consider notions of place and belonging, by using natural foraged materials to build a sculptural house. Sophia’s work ‘An Unnecessary Figure’, a response to working in a foodbank during lockdown, was recently acquired as part of The New Art Gallery Walsall’s Twenty Twenty Collection
Until 28 August 2022
Following an open call-out, which received submissions from 220 artists across the region, in Spring 2021 the Gallery acquired 32 new works by 30 West Midlands’ based artists, with their individual responses to the significant events that shaped 2020.
