Preview – Daniella Turbin
A Place to Return To

West Midlands based artist Daniella Turbin combines long distance walking with photography, drawing and writing. For her residency at The New Art Gallery Walsall in 2021, she explored the local area, taking photos and making drawings in the landscape, later transcribing these onto the walls, floor and window of the studio space.  

In May 2022 Daniella embarked on her longest walk to date, around the whole of Britain. Setting off from, and returning to her home in Essington, she plotted a route that would pass through every county and take about a year to complete.  

For her solo exhibition A Place to Return To, Daniella brings together photographs and writing from her walk, together with new drawings and paper forms, which collectively reflect upon the experience.
