The New Art Gallery Walsall at 25

Wednesday 22 October, 5.30pm. Tickets from £6.07

Join the Birmingham Architecture Association for a tour and talk about the Gallery to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

Opened in 2000, the Gallery quickly established itself as both an architectural landmark and a cultural hub, admired internationally for its distinctive design by Caruso St John Architects and nationally recognised for its outstanding collections, including the world-renowned Garman Ryan Collection.

The evening will begin with a guided building tour, offering guests a rare opportunity to experience the Gallery’s design from an architectural perspective. The tour will highlight how the building’s form and materials have shaped the display of art and the visitor experience, and why it remains a touchstone of contemporary British architecture.

Following the tour, attendees will be invited to a talk and discussion with two key figures in the Gallery’s story. Peter Jenkinson OBE, the gallery’s founding director, will reflect on the bold vision and cultural ambition that brought the project into being, while acclaimed architect Peter St John will offer insights into the design process and the legacy of the award-winning building 25 years on.

This celebratory event promises to be a unique opportunity to honour an architectural icon and its lasting cultural impact.
